STUFFRANDOMPEOPLEWANT
WTF?
Stuff Random People Want is a collection of photos taken by unknown individuals of things they presumably want.
No seriously, WTF?
On December 3, 2008, Amazon.com released an iPhone application which lets people take photos of things they want to buy with their phone. These photos travel through a series of tubes and end up, more or less, at the Amazon.com Mechanical Turk website, where people can sign up to attempt to find the photographed items on Amazon.com. Some of those photos also end up here.
Is that legal?
I have no idea. Is anything on the internet legal? This web site is "art", air quotes added. It's a bizarre window into the lives of random people and the crazy machinery that makes the internet possible. It's pretty stupid. It's devestatingly relevant social commentary. It's 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife.
Are you affiliated with Amazon.com in any way?
In any way? I buy stuff there from time to time and am a huge fan of their AWS developer services. But no, this Stuff Random People Want website has no affiliation with Amazon.com whatsoever. All opinions expressed are my own. You may not retransmit this program without the express written consent of Major League Baseball. By reading this you agree to the terms of service. You will not take any legal action against me, get angry, or yell fire in a crowded theater. You agree to be held hostage by Smurfs. Fool.
Dude, that's my photo. I demand that you take it down.
No problem. Wait, which photo? Crap.
This is awesome! Do you have a myspace page?
Only leprechauns and Country/Western singers still use myspace. Follow me on twitter.
